Give the Gift of Words with a Mother’s Day Poem

You love to write, so it only makes sense that you love to surprise family and friends with your prose. Mother’s Day is coming soon, so why not surprise you mother with a nice Mother’s Day poem.

The Steps to a Great Mother’s Day Poem

Although it is the words that count, a Mother’s Day poem can only be made better with the kind of paper that the words are written on. Of course, there are many different kinds of paper that you could choose from, but it would be a good idea to try to choose paper that has something to do with the theme of your poem.

For example, if the Mother’s Day poem as a section about flowers, choose a piece of paper that has decorative flowers on it. To find a great piece of paper, all you have to do is go to a stationery store or an office supply store, where there are lots of interesting designs to choose from.

The next step is to find the proper utensil with which to write the Mother’s Day poem. True, you could type the poem and print it out on the paper, but the Mother’s Day poem is supposed to be really personal, so unless your writing is illegible, the poem should be in your own handwriting.

When it comes to selecting the proper utensil to write with, don’t write with a pencil, as the words can get smudged and easily erased. Instead, write with something creative, like a gel pen. Gel pens come in a variety of different colors, so choose your mother’s favorite color to write with, and just be sure that it doesn’t conflict with the colors of the paper you use.

Next comes the task of figuring out what you want to write about. Do you want it to be emotionally poignant, or do you want it to be a comical look at all the mischief you caused as a child?

What happens to the people who want to write a Mother’s Day poem, but aren’t satisfied with the poem that they have written? If you fall into this category, you can always rewrite the poem. Remember, your poem doesn’t have to be the best thing that was ever written, but when your mother sees it, chances are she will think that it is.
